American Water Services, Inc. was originally formed in 1994 under the name of Water Management Consultants to own and operate water systems. Larry Freeman, the founder, identified the need for managing public water systems, at the urging of Mr. J. W. Northcutt. Mr. Northcutt had been managing the community water system in his subdivision for many years. He recognized the potential problems that could arise in everyday water treatment and the importance of proper testing procedures. He also knew first-hand the importance of having the equipment and manpower to make any needed repair even in the middle of the night or holidays. He saw that Freeman Electrical & Pump Service, Inc. (American Water’s sister company, also founded by Larry Freeman) had exactly what was needed to get the job done quickly and effectively. After servicing his subdivision and many like his, it was obvious that there was a real need for this type of water service company, hence Mr. Freeman established Water Management Consultants. The name was changed to American Water Services, Inc. in 1999.

About White County

White County in north Georgia's Blue Ridge Mountains features mountainous terrain with the Appalachian Trail crossing its northern reaches and steep valleys carved by the Chattahoochee River headwaters. Thin, rocky soils over crystalline bedrock on mountain slopes severely limit conventional septic options, often requiring mound systems, drip irrigation, or packaged treatment plants. Wells drilled into fractured rock have variable yields, and the county's tourism economy around Cleveland and alpine attractions adds seasonal demand on on-site systems.
